What Is Youth Therapy

Youth therapy is counselling designed to support young people—typically ages 6 to 18—through the emotional, social, and developmental challenges they may face as they grow.

It provides a safe, supportive environment where children and teens can:

Express thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.

Learn healthy coping skills for managing emotions, stress, and life changes.

Build self-esteem and resilience to navigate challenges with confidence.

Strengthen relationships with family, friends, and peers.

Youth therapy can involve creative approaches like play therapy, art therapy, or skill-building activities alongside evidence-based techniques such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Sometimes, parents or caregivers are involved to help improve communication and support the child’s progress.
